READY! for Kindergarten Spring Classes - April 16, 22, 24 and 29, 2014

 

READY! for Kindergarten is a FREE parent education program for parents of children
newborn to age 5 living in the Sumner School District. READY! classes provide parents with free tools, simple activities, and great information about how young children learn and grow.  Out-of-District families are required to pay a materials fee ($25 one time Orientation fee + $60/per class).  Classes are for adults (parents and/or primary caregivers), childcare is provided for children 12 months and older, pre-registration is required.

Sumner School District offers “Becoming a Love & Logic Parent” Class:  Creating Respectful and Responsible Kids for families with children ages 4 - 12 years.

    Set Limits Without Waging War
    Avoid Power Struggles
    Guide Kids to Own & Solve Their Problems

$15.00 per person/$25.00 per couple (If your child/children qualifies for free/reduced lunch & attends school in the Sumner School District, the class fee will be waived).

Mountain View Middle School PTO Presents Masterminds Trivia Night - April 26, 2014

 

The MasterMinds Trivia Night is a new Mountain View Middle School PTO fundraiser designed to raise money to support student programs at MMS. From academics to clubs to athletics, there are unmet needs throughout the school that will directly benefit from the funds raised during the event. We hope to see you there!

3rd Annual Family Fitness Fest - May 3, 2014

 

The Sumner School District, the Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Bonney Lake are pleased to collaborate on the third annual Family Fitness Fest. This exciting event will promote healthy families and communities through free, fun, healthy living activities for children and families.  There is no cost to participate in this event.  All activities will be free of charge.

Local businesses and government agencies will be on hand to answer questions, conduct demonstrations, and provide resources for developing fit families and a spirit of service.

The event will take place in the Bonney Lake High School commons from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

BHS Panther Band Harlem Wizards Fundraiser - May 7, 2014

 

The Bonney Lake High School Panther Band Alliance will host the Harlem Wizards, a world famous show basketball squad, as they perform in an exhibition game against “The Panther ELITE," a team made up of Sumner School District principals, teachers and students, as well as prominent community members. The current team roster includes the following:

  • Bonney Lake Mayor, Neil Johnson
  • Councilman Randy McKibbon
  • Bonney Lake Police Chief, Dana Powers
  • Puyallup Police Chief, Bryan Jeter
  • Bonney Lake High School Principal, Linda Masteller
  • Bonney Lake High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Brian Scheerer
  • Sumner School District Coaches Tom Ostrander, Jason Silbaugh and Shena Mouring
  • Bonney Lake High School Band Director, Travis Mills and Former Band Director, Don Neptun
  • Sumner High School Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, Jeff Baines
  • Mt. View Middle School Athletic Director Dave Rumpza
  • Mt. View Middle School Basketball Coach, Dave Cohen
  • Several other Sumner School District faculty and staff members

Since 1962, The Harlem Wizards have been dedicated solely to helping schools, non-profits and other charitable organizations across the world raise funds. Next Fall, the award-winning BLHS Panther Band will travel to St. George, UT to participate in the Bands of America competition. The Panther Band will contine on to Anaheim, CA and march in the Disneyland parade. Proceeds from Harlem Wizards Fundraiser will be used to support the upcoming trip expenses.

Camp Invention - July 21-25, 2014

 

Camp Invention inspires creativity and inventive thinking during its weeklong summer program! Led by educators, elementary school children are immersed into fun-filled, exciting, activities that reinvent summer fun. Throughout the week, children work together to solve real-world challenges that prepare them for the 21st century. Whether they are creating an epic, insect-themed pinball machine or dismantling broken devices, participants learn new approaches to everyday problems!
