STEM Fair & Art Show
9:00 a.m. — 3:30 p.m.
February 9, 2013
Lakeridge Middle School, 5909 Myers Road East in Bonney Lake
Science fairs give students the opportunity to model the work of professional research scientists. Students who develop science projects learn or improve their skills in scientific method and experimentation, logical thinking and problem-solving, writing and public speaking, and advanced library research. Students will present projects to science fair judges, with the top projects moving on to regional competition in March.
Each school will send first, second, and third place entries and two honorable mention entries per grade level at each school on to the District Science Fair. To ask questions or to volunteer for the Science Fair, please e-mail: Jennifer Peters or Don Pruett

District Art Show
hosted by the Sumner School District Fine Arts departments with support from The City of Sumner Arts Commission
This 4th Annual Show celebrates the arts in public schools with pieces of student work in various media including watercolor, oil, charcoal, colored pencil, mixed media, and ceramics on exhibit. This year the show will include digital photographs by middle and high school students. Visitors to the show may cast a vote for their favorite work of art for the “People’s Choice Award.” Ben Franklin will have a hands-on table available for budding artists to create art.
As part of the STEM Fair, students in kindergarten - grade 12 participated in poster artwork contest, utilizing the Fair’s theme “Building STEAM,” incorporating themes of Science, Tech-nology, Engineering, Art and Math. Mountain View Middle School eighth grade student Stacey Randolph was selected as this year’s winner, and her original artwork was used to design the 2013 STEM Fair poster. All entries will be on display at the STEM Fair.
This event is free and open to the public; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Concessions will be available from the Lakeridge Booster Club.
